Privacy PolicyCast a Spell: Your Power Grows
Last updated: October 12, 2026
In short: the app collects no personal information. Everything stays on your device.
Cast a Spell: Your Power Grows ("the app") is a learning game for children, made by Arno Koch ("we"). We built it so that it works without collecting any information about your child.
What the app stores
The app stores the following only on your device, inside the app:
- the hero names your family types in (a first name or nickname is enough),
- the chosen school grade and the hero's look,
- game progress: lands, gems, pets, eggs, the home, puzzle results and learning levels,
- settings such as sound and the parent PIN.
This information never leaves the device, except between your own family's devices when a parent turns on playing together (see below). It is included in your device's normal iCloud or computer backup, like other app data.
What the app does not do
- No accounts, no sign-up, no e-mail address.
- No advertising and no ad tracking.
- No analytics, crash reporting or other third-party tools that collect data.
- No in-app purchases.
- No chat, and no contact with anyone outside the family.
- No location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
Optional: playing together on the same Wi-Fi (parents only)
Behind the parental gate and PIN, a parent can turn on "Play together" and set a family word. Family devices running the app on the same local network (Wi-Fi) then find each other directly, using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity. While playing together, they share the heroes' names and looks, where each hero is in the game, waves, presents and help in battles.
- Family devices that share heroes: if a parent says yes on both devices, the two devices also keep the heroes the same, so a child can go on playing on either one. Then the heroes' saved progress (the information listed above, except the PIN and the device's settings) is copied between these devices.
- Guests: a parent can invite a friend's device with a short code that the friend's parent types on their device. Guests only play together (names, looks, positions, waves, presents) and never receive your children's heroes or your family word.
- Each device has a name a parent can choose (for example "Leo's iPad"), which other connected devices see.
- Nothing goes over the internet and nothing reaches us or any server.
- Only devices with the same family word, or guests a parent invited, connect. The word and the guest codes are never sent, only fingerprints of them.
- The connection is encrypted. The devices identify themselves with a random code.
- iOS asks once for permission to use the local network. Turning "Play together" off stops it completely.
The app does not use any online voice or AI service: all voices are recordings built into the app.
Children's privacy
The app is designed for children. It complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's App Store guidelines for the Kids category: we do not collect personal information from children. The areas for grown-ups (settings, playing together, backups) are behind a parental gate.
Deleting data
Delete a hero in the Parents area. It is removed from all family devices that share heroes, and kept in "Recently deleted" for 30 days so it can be brought back; after that it is gone. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device.
